The Morning Commute to Work

The morning commute to work in DC is a disheartening affair. Fellow passers-by wear grim expressions and bland clothes - they refuse to look at you in elevators or on street cornerns. Everyone is very busy and only concerned with themselves and their ipod playlist. Women like to pair their suits and pearls with sneakers and they only change into their uncomfortable high-heeled shoes once they are in the office.

Happy Hours are Fun in DC

Sadly, Jozefina has been working late so she had to miss the happy hours. But many many bars and restaurants in DC cater to the post-work crowd that seems all too eager to forget its days' work with some drinks. During the Happy Hour in DC men loosen up their ties and women take off their Ann Taylor jackets.

Tonight, Jozefina had a fabulous time at the Lebanese Taverna and the Brickskeller, a beer hangout where she was the only customer that night to order wine.

Office Environments Are Stifling

For the first time in a long time, Jozefina returned to her old office environment, with uncertain steps and a venti coffee as her only friend in this grim situation. Her one form of silent rebellion was her slightly inappropriate attire - dress above the knee, a hint of cleavage, open-t0ed shoes. She relished the disapproving looks in the elevator.

Washington DC Men Are as Ugly as Ever

Jozefina was excited to return to the city in which she spent several fun-filled years. However, already on her first night there, she had a rude awakening and a stark reminder of how very unattractive the DC men are. They are generally in their early 20ies, and harbor presidential ambitions while earning miniscule salaries on the Hill and wearing poorly fitting suits. On dates they like to bore you with stories of their bureaucratic accomplishments.
